Before you start drawing Tell me what you are thinking to do...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Post here your short text starting with your name I will during the week respond to you here or on the website by video.
+ Beverly: I think I will attempt another portrait - in charcoals and pastels OK! Are you excited about doing it ...
To Express yourself you first feel the desire almost the nessecity for doing it! in order to EXPRESS yourself
+ Kelley: I am thinking of doing an abstract drawing. Can we use any tools we would like??? Yes Any tool you want
+Rebekah : I was actually thinking of an abstract as well, I was also thinking I might try a portrait like we did in class last week, can we try both and bring them both i to class just in case one is better than the other? :) Yes of course :)
+Doreen: I think i might do something similar to what I did on the newsprint or do something on newsprint. OK!
+ Austin: I had so much fun working with the ink, I think I would like to do something along those line maybe a portrait of a superhero.....I am such a Nerd.
Do something in regard to what interest you have in life and it will express something about you... remember to answer the other question.
+Dan : I am going to do something out of the newspaper, I don't no what emotion i am going to express yet, but i'm going to finish it before the next class.
You can start a drawing without knowing what you are going to express from yourself, but it is constently in your mind and it might come during the making of it. So think about it when you are working and it will come by association...
Thare is a new video that I posted on the website on Wednesday night go look at it Philippe
-----------------------------------------
Explain your choice:
---------------------------------
+ Beverly: I want to see is I have basic proportions right, so I can continue these after we finish the class and don't have Phillipe to guide us. I enjoyed seeing a face come through my hands.
If you worry about proportion remember the approach to take... look at every point or line and see where they are located with other point or line. That will help you keep the proportion
right ...
+ Kelley: I was thinking of doing this since I have absolutely no clue what else to draw. I think it is harder to do "self expression" because we don't have anything to refer our artwork to, besides our own experience. Maybe this week, something will inspire me to draw something unique and worth looking at...maybe!! Do something you like and that will make you happy. Like you say something inspiring...
+
I chose these because I really liked trying different abstract drawings but I liked the portrait as well. I have a great picture of my daughter I would love to try and draw but who knows. It looks good in my head but on paper it could be a whole different story! Try to make a choice or do both if you have the courage Don't worry about failing in order to learn you need to fail
!
Doreen: I chose this because it was the only thing I did that you seemed to like. Interesting point you bring Doreen. But when you can express yourself do you want to do it for some body else interest? I think you should think or choose what will fulfill you... I like the newsprint background because, depending on what it is, I think it will add something to my picture. Exactly good point!
+ Kelley: Don't be so hard on yourself Doreen. Your drawings are much better than I could ever do.
+ Austin: I like Comic book art it's fun to look at and I enjoy drawing Super hero it makes me feel 10 again and I like that, who doesn't. I have noticed since I started drawing that thou they appear to be some what simple they are anything but.
+ Austin: I've spent the better part of to day working on a art project that I don't even like. I have become discouraged, and my mind is running more on the abstract side and I like that. Being discouraged and loosing your energy or interest is very often happening when starting working on your image. It often comes from the fact that what you have done doesn't compare to what you had imagined or dreamed. The disapointment is killing the excitment you had at the beginning. Even professionel artists accounter this, you are not alone, and the good about is that you will have to overcome the negativeness and learn something from that experience.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Let me know when you started drawing and how is it going? EXPRESS YOURSELF also here or verbally in order to reflect on the process...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
+ Rebekah: I have started drawing the portrait of my daughter. So far so good. I really learned alot last class with the proportions. I didn't start by drawing a circle for the head I started with her eyes. I am happy with it so far but I am really just in the beginning stages of the drawing. Great let me know how it's going, Remember to use your values to the maximumlight from dark even on the skin.
+ Kelley: I did an abstract drawing using the black ink. I just splashed it onto the paper. The week that we did something with the black ink, I did an abstract drawing by dipping different materials into the ink and laying them on the paper. This time.. I wanted to see how different it would look if I just splashed it onto the paper and without actually touching the paper. It was fun...the past two weeks have been really busy for me, so it was nice to just have fun with the ink. I should probably try drawing something as well?!?! AH AH it sounded too easy but FUN! may be do another one or something else ...
+Austin: I am currently working on an abstract expression peoce and it's coming together well. I am having a good time and noticed that I am not so discouraged. It's fun. Glad to hear that you having more FUN!
